Like with most things in life starting your own blog has a lot of benefits. Yes, you can use it to provide a second income stream but there's other benefits aswell.

Remote Locations 

With blogging you can sit anywhere in the world and still write a blog and if you have internet access you can post it. Compared with most traditional work where you have to go to a physical building and work from there and wear an uniform,  with blogging you don't need an uniform and  don't have to go anywhere.

Flexible Work hours 

With blogging you can work anytime of the day , depending if you have your own blog or do a blog for a company. 

Passive income 

With blogging , past post also give you a revenue so aslong as the post stays on the blogsite and your site is monetized you will keep earning money as long as you keep receiving views on the posts.

Low labour 

Another benefit of blogging is that it isn't very labour intensive, compared to other jobs like construction,  security, etc.

Short work hours

This also depends on if you have your own blog. If you have your own blog you can do some research and write a blog and be done for the day all within 2 hours of work.

Helps boost creativity 

Most people who blog have to look for content to write about , structure the post and make the content unique to other posts. Doing this boosts your creativity and helps you see the world differently. 

Increases your knowledge 

Blogging increases your knowledge when you have to do research on content you learn something new. Blogging also helps you with your grammar and helps you learn new works.

Disadvantages of blogging 

Yes , blogging does have its disadvantages compared to other jobs like:

• Slow initial income if you don't have a large following. 
• Requires some form of initial investment to make your blog more profitable. 
• No fixed income. With blogging you don't earn a base salary and if you don't receive any traffic to your post you don't earn any revenue.

Is blogging worth it?

Blogging is very difficult initially to start up and build a following. You should always start off blogging as a hobby , that way it will be less stressful and you will still have an income from your main job.
